Holding two crucial
positions, as Administration and Human Resource
(HR) Head, Gerry,
to his colleagues is made for the tougher
stuff. A person who has never been a stress
wimp, he is always up to any challenge that
comes his way, work-related or otherwise.
A B.S. Architecture graduate
and armed with an inherent skill in human
relations, Gerry in the past has also been
the Sales Manager of Aldeguer Apparel and
Accessories, Inc., and Manila Operations
Manager in the Aldeguer Group of Companies.
He was also appointed as
Operations Manager of Islands Souvenirs,
Inc., and Operations Manager of USA Sports,
Incorporated, both affiliates of the A.L.
Aldeguer Group of Companies.
His previous positions
generally focused on maintaining rapport
among the company's clients and employees.
It is in this reason that Gerry is not having
a hard time adjusting with his current position.
"With
the trust of the management, I know I can
handle this", quipped Gerry.
Gerry's day revolves around
managing the company's 500 - workforce.
He takes charges in consolidating company
policies of the Aldeguer Group of Companies,
hiring procedures, employee orientations,
job evaluations, handling disciplinary actions
to employees and administering employee
benefits. Also included in his job are conducting
seminars and workshops on work enhancement
and customer services. Gerry also handles
all governmental permit requirements.
In order to bridge the
gap between the administration and employees,
Gerry said they have a "One-on-one
Employee Counselling", an HR program
which gained recognition among employees.
With this program, Gerry said, employees
can freely consult him thus, opening the
door for an open communication.
Being in the company for
16 years, Gerry said that A.L. Aldeguer
Group of Companies puts more premium on
transparency and clear communication.
Though his job has a unique
set of challenges and stresses, Gerry still
finds time to relax by indulging in his
favorite hobby - biking. A person who loves
the outdoors, he has toured the northern
parts of Cebu and is always looking forward
to more road trips after a week's work.
